Welcome to SummerBase, throughout the summer we will provide you with several VR events. Nearly every week we will host an different subject with different speakers at VRBASE!

Augmented Reality Meetup

For this expert session we have invited Jasper Brekelmans and Doruk Eker.
Jasper Brekelmans will first offer an overview on AR technology that will dive into topics like:
– How do AR, VR, MR, xR relate?
– What are the differences between Mobile AR and Headset AR technologies, and what sets them apart?
– Is this “ARKit” hype really any better than earlier precedents like Vuforia, Kudan, Wikitude and Tango?
– Key insights on how SLAM / Visual Odometry tracking actually works.
(Beware lots of personal opinion but based on first and second hand experience.)
Doruk Eker will then talk about AR in the public space. He will describe his recent projects for the Ministerie van Defensie and ING Netherlands. Both projects ran on the smart screens in train stations in the Netherlands in May and June 2017. He will also share examples on his past projects that used mobile devices for AR in public spaces and offer some demos to help illustrate.

We will also announce the VRBase Visitors Slack group to stay in casual contact.
